Bear Grylls reveals Biblical hero after baptism in Jordan River

Survivalist TV star Bear Grylls shared about his experience getting baptized in the Jordan River just days before war broke out in the Holy Land. Grylls shared it’s been a dream of his for years. At 49, he made his longtime dream a reality.

“It had always been a dream of mine to get in the water that Jesus was baptised in by my hero John the Baptist,” Grylls shared on his X account. Grylls has been a believer for years though he’s struggled with traditional church settings. Thankfully he’s never lost his awe for the story of Christ.
“The story is so amazing, & it seems wherever Jesus went, that new birth, new life, a new vision followed. Luke (in the bible) was probably a Syrian doctor before he met Jesus. He writes a reliable, poignant account of his life. It’s short. I like it. #adventure #life #nevergiveup
Grylls shared with the Christian Post that he believes Jesus would struggle with most traditional churches and encouraged believers to drop the religious fluff and performances.
“I think Jesus would really struggle with 99% of churches nowadays,” he shared. “Our job in life is to stay close to Christ and drop the religious, drop the fluff, drop the church if you need to because that means so many different things to different people anyway. Keep the bit of church which is about community and friends and honesty and faith and love. All the masks, performances, music and worship bands and all of that sort of stuff — I don’t think Christ would recognize a lot of that.”

Grylls whose real name is Edward Michael picked up the nickname “Bear” from his sister when he was just a week old. He first became popular on the TV in Man vs. Wild (2006–2011). He then went on to star in numerous other shows, write numerous books including in 2019 a Christian devotional titled Soul Fuel.
