“Alabama will never be intimidated by out-of-state interest groups dedicated to destroying our nation’s religious heritage”

Auburn football head coach, Hugh Freeze

Auburn Head Coach, Hugh Freeze, exercised his First Amendment right to freedom of religion by attending Unite Auburn, a Christian gathering that resulted in hundreds of baptisms in September. Now an anti-religion, anti-freedom special interest group is trying to say the coach of the football team doesn’t have a right to attend an after-hours worship service. Well, they’re wrong and they can make a fuss all they want, but God is not mocked and won’t be canceled by a culture that tries and tries. Psalm 2 says, “Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain?”

First Liberty who is representing Freeze contends that any efforts to violate a citizen of the United State’s constitutional rights will fail.

“We fought hard for years to secure a landmark Supreme Court victory making sure coaches, teachers, administrators and all public employees can freely live out their faith. Now, we have to keep fighting to ensure the Court’s direction is followed.”

Those fights include Coach Joseph Kennedy who won a Supreme Court decision that he could exercise his constitutional rights by praying on field after the games.

Thankfully, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey took a stand and pushed back on any out-of-state interest group attempting to violate the rights of United States citizens. She wrote last Friday, “As governor, I can assure you Alabama will never be intimidated by out-of-state interest groups dedicated to destroying our nation’s religious heritage.”

Senior Counsel Jeremy Dys of First Liberty shared with FOX, “We have more religious freedom in our country today than we’ve had in decades…you have the maximum amount of religious freedom than you’ve ever had so go out there and be free.”
