“I”ll have to start off by saying all the glory to God,” said track and field star Sydney McLaughlin after winning gold again for Team USA at the World Athletics Championship this past weekend in the 400m hurdles.

McLaughlin is the world record holder for the fastest times in the event. In preparation for the big race, said she has been meditating on Scripture the last few days leading up to the race.

“These past few days getting ready for this race, Hebrews 4:16 has been on my mind – coming boldly to His throne to receive mercy and grace. And I think He really gave me the strength to do it today, so all the glory goes to God.”

What has been especially remarkable with McLaughlin is her ability to consistently beat her own world records and improve her time in every race. This weekend was no different as she brought a gold medal home for Team USA at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon. People are taking notice as NBC tweeted that she is truly becoming one of the sport’s greatest athletes of all time.

NBC Sports tweeted,

There are no words. We are witnessing GREATNESS!

It’s a WORLD RECORD for @GoSydGo. ?

For McLaughlin, she continually is pushing the limits, training harder, and setting the bar for women’s track and field possibilities.

CBN News reported, “Last summer in Tokyo, she set the world record at 51.46 and won the Olympic gold medal. Before that, she became the first woman to go under 52 seconds when she ran 51.90 at the U.S. Olympic Trials. Now, she’s the first woman to complete the race in under 51 seconds.”

As for her future, she said, “anything is possible” including competing in other track and field events as there are so many more ways she can compete.

One thing is for sure, Jesus is Lord and McLaughlin is not afraid to share that with the world – identifying on social media as a child of God and on Instagram bio stating boldy, Jesus is Lord.
