Potter’s House spokesman calls accusations, “unequivocally false and baseless”

Bishop TD Jakes, founder of the Potter’s House in Dallas, Texas addressed online accusations that went viral last week regarding sexual misconduct by the leader of the 30,000 member, non-denominational church.

Jakes addressed the allegations while preaching at a Christmas Eve service at the Dallas megachurch.

TD Jakes has come under fire after an online report alleged he participated in sexual misconduct in connection to Sean “Diddy” Combs’s lavish, sexually exploitive parties. The allegations against Jakes include sexual involvement with other men and a minor boy whose family was paid off by Jakes to stay silent. The allegations come after a bombshell lawsuit was filed against Combs and settled out of court one day later by singer “Cassie.” The lawsuit alleged Combs beat her, raped her, and forced her into sexual trafficking.

Derrick Williams, executive vice president of TD Jakes Entertainment, who was also in attendance at Combs’s 53rd birthday party in Los Angeles told Christian Post that was the only party of Combs that Jakes ever attended.

“As a filmmaker, executive producer, and one of the pioneers of value-based movies, Bishop Jakes, in his role as CEO of T.D. Jakes Entertainment, paid respect to the former Chairman of Revolt during the celebration of his birthday,” Williams told Christian Post. “Bishop Jakes was in LA for important business meetings, and we felt that a quick appearance at the former Chairman of Revolt’s birthday event was the respectful thing to do since Bishop Jakes’ sermons are aired on the Revolt Network,” he explained.

Truth or Lies

Jordan A. Hora, executive director of public relations and communications for the T.D. Jakes Group, T.D. Jakes Ministries and The Potter’s House, told The Christian Post the online report that circulated to almost 2 million people was nothing more than “unequivocally false and baseless.”

“Recent claims circulating on pockets of social media about Bishop T.D. Jakes are unequivocally false and baseless,” Hora told Christian Post.

“What has always been true, in the words of the late Pastor Charles H. Spurgeon, ‘If you want the truth to go round the world you must hire an express train to pull it; but if you want a lie to go round the world it will fly; it is as light as a feather, and a breath will carry it.'”

Jakes is 66, an accomplished author, filmmaker, and developer

Jakes is an entrepreneur, an author, filmmaker, television personality, and real estate developer whose influence can be felt across the nation.

“I ain’t come to convince you or nobody because I know who I am. That’s ain’t what this is about“You can think whatever you want, I don’t care,” said Jakes. I came to do my job. I came to prophesy like I was commanded. I came to hear the Master say, “Well done thou good and faithful servant,” to a standing crowd of applause in support of Jakes. I came to stand up like a grown man who has a God who sees everything. I came to do my job.”

At this point, Jake’s family of 11 entered the stage area and came out in support and remained on stage throughout the service.

“Never mind me. You didn’t come to church to hear about me,” said Jakes. I never preach about me. I never preach about folks. I never talk about people. In all the years I’ve been preaching I’ve never scandalized anyone…I preach Christ and him crucified.”

“This morning I came to tell you about Jesus who can take a nobody and raise him up to be a somebody if you just believe.” Click to Tweet

‘Stupid’ rumors

“I’ve been through all kinds of battles,” said Jakes who later called the rumors, “stupid.” “Sometimes you don’t need a statement from me, you just need common sense,” explained Jakes.

Jakes insisted his job is to prophesy, and to do his job, come “hell or high water” and he insisted he would continue to do so. Jakes mentioned he will fight with everything he has and will not rest until he finishes the job God has called him to do.

Jakes alluded to the fact that this is the devil’s work, attacking him. Jakes shared he is surrendered to God no matter what and he knows all he has done is because of Christ anyway. Jakes shared that though he is not perfect with his own faults and flaws Jakes made it clear, “I didn’t do that.”
