Hannah Harper, a 25-year-old stay-at-home mom of three from Willow Springs, Missouri, was crowned the winner of American Idol Season 24 on Monday night. She beat runner-up Jordan McCullough and Keyla Richardson in the live finale.
A Faith-Fueled Journey
Harper grew up performing gospel and bluegrass with her family band, The Harper Family. A devoted Christian who attends First Baptist Church of Birch Tree, she brought authentic worship and vulnerability to the competition.
Her audition with the original song “String Cheese” — written about her postpartum depression struggles — went viral and deeply moved judge Carrie Underwood. Throughout the season, Harper stood out with powerful faith-centered performances, including “Ain’t No Grave” (called “Resurrection Rock” by Luke Bryan) and closing the finale with Chris Tomlin’s “At the Cross (Love Ran Red).” Tomlin responded on social media by congratulating her on the win and offering to collaborate with her and sing the classic worship song together in the future.
Historic Win
As the first female country winner since Carrie Underwood in 2005, Harper’s victory confirms the appeal of true faith and family values on a major stage. She has spoken openly about her husband’s support and her desire to use music to glorify God while balancing motherhood.
With a recording contract ahead, Hannah Harper is poised to bring her gospel-infused country sound to an even wider audience.
