Quaid shares faith through Fallen: Gospel Songs for Sinners
Dennis Quaid may be most known for his acting, but the movie star who has become a go-to actor in faith-based films including ‘Soul Surfer’, ‘American Underdog’, and most recently ‘The Hill’, is also a talented singer, songwriter, and gospel music pioneer. Quaid showcased his talent this past weekend at Harvest Fellowship in Irvine, California, led by Pastor Greg Laurie.
“I was always a Christian, grew up in the Baptist church but this was really the beginning of my personal relationship with Jesus, which started after that,” Quaid shared with Harvest Fellowship. “Up until then I’d been trying to do it my way all my life, and that didn’t work out so well.”
Quaid performed his new song, ‘On My Way to Heaven,’ and ‘Fallen’ from his new album, “Fallen: Gospel Songs for Sinners.” Quaid shared that he wrote it after drug rehab to assure his mother that he was going to make it.
“I wrote it for my mother after I got out of rehab, what I called ‘cocaine school’ back in 1990, to let her know that I was ok,” said Quaid.
Dennis Quaid has been in over 70 films over his 50-year career. Pastor Greg Laurie shared, “Dennis is also very active in sharing his faith,” referencing his role in the film ‘I Can Only Imagine.”
“It’s called Fallen: A Gospel Record for Sinners because I wanted the largest possible audience for it.” I think that’s what Christianity has going for it….it’s a personal relationship with God.”
