Faith was Toby Keith’s rock through cancer treatment
Country music legend, Toby Keith revealed he’s also a man of faith.
“I lean on my faith and I just pray and lean into it,” Keith told FOX. “You gotta’ do what you gotta’ do, and I don’t know how people do it without faith … that’s what I did, it was my rock.”
People’s Choice Country Awards
Keith, 62, received the first Country Icon Award at the inaugural People’s Choice Country Awards last week.
Keith has been being treated and recovering from stomach cancer in the fall of 2021 and has taken time to recover and relax since, but he hopes to be performing again as he is able.
Blake Shelton expresses his support
Long-time friend and “kindred-spirit,” Blake Shelton presented Keith with the award and lifted the spirit of Keith.
“He’s who I would’ve chosen,” Keith told Fox News Digital on who he wanted to present the award to him. “He’s an old friend of mine, I was his first tour when he came out. We remain friends, we’re a lot of like … kindred spirits kind of thing.”
