In the Wake of the Bondi Beach Terror Attack: A Call to Unwavering Solidarity
In the wake of the devastating terrorist attack at Bondi Beach on December 14, where 15 innocent lives were tragically taken during a joyful Hanukkah celebration, the world mourns with Australia’s Jewish community. A father-and-son duo, inspired by ISIS extremist ideology, targeted families gathered for “Chanukah by the Sea,” turning a moment of light and hope into one of profound darkness. This antisemitic act of terror, Australia’s deadliest in history, has shaken the nation and reverberated globally, reminding us all of the persistent evil of hatred against Jews.
Floral tributes and memorials at Bondi Beach honor the victims, including children, rabbis, and Holocaust survivors.
Yet in this tragedy, there is a clarion call for solidarity. As Christians, we are compelled by faith, history, and morality to stand unequivocally with our Jewish brothers and sisters. The Bible teaches us that the Jewish people are God’s chosen people to bless all nations through Jesus the Messiah, the root from which Christianity grew (Romans 11:17-18). Jesus Himself was Jewish, as were the apostles. To harm innocent humanity is to strike at the very foundation of our faith.
The Bondi attack is not an isolated incident but part of a troubling rise in antisemitism worldwide. Reports from Australia’s Executive Council of Australian Jewry documented thousands of incidents in recent years, fueled by hatred that echoes the darkest chapters of history. “Never again” must not be an empty phrase—it demands action today.

Mourners gather at a makeshift memorial, a poignant reminder of lives cut short.
Now is the time for Christians to:
- – Publicly condemn antisemitism in all forms, from online vitriol to violent acts.
- – Support Jewish communities through interfaith events, security funding, and friendship.
- – Educate ourselves and others about the shared Judeo-Christian heritage and the dangers of replacement theology or indifference.
- – Pray fervently for peace, healing, and protection for Israel and Jewish people everywhere.

In standing together, we affirm that light overcomes darkness—just as Hanukkah celebrates the miracle of enduring faith.

Let us heed this moment. Christians, rise up in love and unity. Never again means now.
