IOC Sets Biological Standard for Women’s Competition Ahead of 2028 Games
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has approved a new policy defining eligibility for the women’s category in Olympic competition to biological women only, aligning with President Trump’s executive order.
At its core, the policy is simple: participation in female events will be limited to biological females.
IOC President Kirsty Coventry emphasized that the policy aims to preserve both fairness and safety, noting that even small physical advantages can determine outcomes at the highest levels of sport.
Speaking about the policy, IOC President Kirsty Coventry said: “As a former athlete, I passionately believe in the rights of all Olympians to take part in fair competition. The policy that we have announced is based on science and has been led by medical experts. At the Olympic Games, even the smallest margins can be the difference between victory and defeat. So, it is absolutely clear that it would not be fair for biological males to compete in the female category. In addition, in some sports it would simply not be safe.”
The move is likely to influence sports organizations worldwide, as federations and national bodies consider adopting similar standards for elite competition.
For Christians, this moment points back to Scripture affirming that God created humanity male and female, each with inherent dignity and distinct design (Genesis 1:27).
