Federal Authorities Investigate Political Violence that Disrupted Peaceful Assembly
A Turning Point USA event at UC Berkeley was disrupted Monday night after far-left agitators—identified by federal officials as Antifa extremists—launched an attack that left at least one attendee bloodied and forced the event to be halted.
According to witnesses, the chaos escalated when a conservative attendee was assaulted outside the venue. The attacker stole the man’s cross necklace and then punched him repeatedly as he attempted to retrieve it. The victim was left with visible injuries while onlookers—identified as left-wing activists—mocked him for being white.
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi condemned the violence, calling Antifa “an existential threat to our nation,” and confirmed that the FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force is conducting a full investigation.
“The violent riots at UC Berkeley last night are under full investigation by the FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force. We will continue to spare no expense unmasking all who commit and orchestrate acts of political violence,” Bondi announced.
Bondi noted that under President Trump’s executive order classifying Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization, the Department of Justice continues dismantling violent networks that seek to intimidate Americans and suppress their free expression.
The incident is the latest escalation in a years-long pattern of political unrest at UC Berkeley, a campus long associated with the Free Speech Movement but increasingly challenged by mob intimidation. Monday’s assault follows previous attempts by far-left groups to silence conservative speakers through riots, vandalism, and threats.
Faith and civil liberties advocates warn that such politically motivated violence poses a direct threat not only to constitutional rights but to the moral fabric of the nation. The right to peaceful assembly—and to hear different perspectives—is essential to our nation’s identity.
