Orange County students will have an opportunity to connect classroom learning with space exploration as educator and commercial space traveler Aymette Medina Jorge headlines STEAM Race to Space Day on Saturday, September 19.
The event at the OCDE Conference Center in Costa Mesa precedes the fifth annual STEAM Race to Space Reading Challenge. Timeless Learning presents the program in partnership with the Orange County Department of Education. Read the OCDE announcement.
From the classroom to space
Medina Jorge traveled aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard. Saturday’s program includes Spanish- and English-language presentations and hands-on activities involving science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.
Students from transitional kindergarten through high school are the intended audience. The reading challenge runs September 25–October 16, extending the learning beyond the event.
Check admission before leaving home
Admission is free, but every attendee—including parents, siblings and other guests—must have a registration ticket.
At the time of checking, the organizer’s registration page displayed closed registration and described the English session as sold out. Families should confirm any reopening directly with organizers rather than assume walk-in admission is available.
The venue is at 200 Kalmus Drive in Costa Mesa. Families unable to attend can find information about the broader reading program through STEAM Race to Space.
