Hot weather arrives alongside coastal hazards and a mountain wind watch.
A heat advisory covers coastal and inland Orange County from 10 a.m. Thursday, October 15, through 8 p.m. Saturday, October 17.
The National Weather Service expects temperatures broadly in the upper 80s to mid-90s. Its Wednesday morning Santa Ana forecast calls for highs of 81 degrees Wednesday, 91 Thursday and 96 Friday.
Residents should plan strenuous outdoor activities for cooler hours, take breaks and check on neighbors who need help staying cool.
A separate high-wind watch covers the Santa Ana Mountains and foothills Thursday morning through Friday evening, with gusts reaching 60 mph possible.
Along the coast, a beach-hazards statement continues through Thursday afternoon. Elevated tides and surf could cause minor flooding, erosion and hazardous swimming conditions.
