A new interview explores faith and discipleship among young people growing up with screens.
Shane Pruitt is urging churches to build relationships with young people whose daily lives are shaped by smartphones, social media and online entertainment.
In an October 9 CBN News report, Pruitt discussed the challenge alongside students describing their own experiences with technology and faith.
Pruitt, author of Reaching Generation Alpha: A Ministry Guide for Discipling the Church Beyond the Screen, said digital content influences more than how young people spend their free time. It can also shape their beliefs and values.
Several students described receiving smartphones at an early age and spending substantial time online. Their accounts were personal experiences, not a representative survey of their generation.
The interviews also highlighted what students want from adults sharing the Gospel: trust, attention and relationships.
Fifteen-year-old Sophie Knox, who said she became a Christian at seven, emphasized the importance of trusting the person communicating the message.
The report presented relationship-building as a central part of reaching young people, alongside the preaching and teaching of the Gospel.
