The attorney and communications adviser will succeed Karoline Leavitt.
President Trump announced October 9 that Katie Zacharia will become White House press secretary, succeeding Karoline Leavitt.
Zacharia most recently served as a senior communications adviser for Trump Media & Technology Group, the company behind Truth Social. Earlier this year, she worked in public affairs at the Department of Homeland Security.
Her background also includes television commentary and legal work for the conservative advocacy organization Fix California.
Pepperdine University identified Zacharia as a 2007 undergraduate alumna and a 2011 graduate of its law school.
President Trump praised her record of support and said he expected her to work effectively with the media and his administration.
Zacharia called the appointment “the honor of a lifetime.” She said she looked forward to working with the White House press corps and reporters around the country to communicate the administration’s record.
Leavitt left the position in August. An official starting date for Zacharia was not announced in the reporting reviewed for this brief.
