The September 13 launch day is part of 37 congregations ARC says are preparing to begin during its fall church-planting season.

Eighteen new congregations supported by the Association of Related Churches were scheduled to hold launch-day gatherings Sunday in communities across the United States and Switzerland.

The September 13 group includes churches in Baltimore, Queens, Miami, Las Vegas, Santa Barbara, Bentonville, Greensboro and other American cities, along with a congregation launching in Zürich.

ARC says the 18 congregations form part of 37 church plants planned for the fall—26 in the United States and 11 internationally. Because the announcement preceded most Sunday gatherings, attendance and response numbers were not yet available and should not be treated as established results.

From Planning to a Local Congregation

ARC describes itself as a cooperative that helps independent church planters with assessment, training, coaching and financial support. The organization says it has assisted more than 1,200 church launches since its founding.

Each church remains locally led and autonomous. That autonomy makes strong theology, financial accountability, safeguarding practices and healthy leadership especially important as new congregations develop.

The September 13 launch list includes Limitless Church in Baltimore, Beloved New York in Queens, Free House in Miami, The Father’s House in Santa Barbara, The House Vegas and Strong Church Zürich.

Other congregations are beginning in communities across Florida, Alabama, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Arkansas, North Carolina and Tennessee.

Launch Day Is Only the Beginning

A first service can represent years of prayer, fundraising, recruiting, training and relationship-building. It can also create a natural opportunity to welcome people who do not have a church home.

Opening day, however, is not the final measure of a healthy church. Attendance, online attention and launch statistics cannot replace faithful preaching, pastoral care, discipleship, accountability and service to the surrounding community.

New congregations will need durable leadership teams, transparent financial practices and meaningful connections with other churches. They will also need patience. Deep spiritual formation rarely happens at the pace of a launch-day campaign.

Why This Matters

Church planting is one of the clearest ways Christians establish a continuing Gospel presence in growing or underserved communities. A healthy local church can become a place of worship, biblical teaching, friendship, evangelism, generosity and practical care.

The variety of locations also reflects the Church’s mission across cultural and geographic boundaries. Whether gathering in Queens, Las Vegas or Zürich, each congregation faces the same central question: will it faithfully make Jesus Christ known and help people grow as His disciples?

These launches join other signs of Gospel growth that THRIVE! has covered, including a global Pentecost initiative reporting 18,000 baptisms across 49 countries.

THRIVE! Perspective

Jesus’ command in Matthew 28:18–20 extends beyond attracting a crowd. The Church is called to make disciples, baptize believers and teach them to obey everything Christ commanded.

Acts 2:42 describes the early believers devoting themselves to apostolic teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread and prayer. Christians can pray that these congregations will proclaim the Gospel clearly, remain rooted in Scripture, develop accountable leaders and serve their neighbors with humility. Launch day is worth celebrating, but enduring faithfulness will reveal the deeper fruit.
