The National Weather Service has an Extreme Heat Warning for Orange County coastal areas through 8 p.m. Thursday, with highs in the mid-80s to mid-90s. Los Angeles Lakers legend and three-time NBA champion A.C. Green is the keynote speaker for Long Beach Rescue Mission’s 43rd Annual Leadership Prayer Breakfast, Friday, October 9, from 7:15 to 9:00 a.m. at The Westin Long Beach, 333 E. Ocean Blvd.
Green, founder of the A.C. Green Youth Foundation, will speak about his faith, NBA career and commitment to mentoring at-risk youth. Matt and Judy Cullen will receive the Community Leadership Award, and the Long Beach Trauma Intervention Program will be honored with the Community Impact Award.
