Love Our City will mobilize churches and faith organizations across more than 50 community-service projects Saturday morning.
Hundreds of volunteers will leave their church buildings Saturday morning and spread across Long Beach to meet practical community needs.
Love Our City 2026 is expected to bring together more than 500 people from local churches and faith organizations for more than 50 service projects on September 19.
Organizers describe the initiative as an opportunity for Christians from different congregations and traditions to serve their neighbors together.
Serving across the city
The morning begins with breakfast, prayer and a kickoff rally at 7:30 a.m. at Grace Long Beach, 3601 Linden Avenue.
Volunteers will then report to projects organized in cooperation with local churches, nonprofits and community partners. Assignments and project times vary according to the needs of each organization.
At least one team will help clean and prepare facilities at Christian Outreach in Action. Other assignments are expected to address tangible neighborhood and organizational needs across Long Beach.
Participants can select an available project during registration rather than being assigned without knowing where they will serve.
Faith expressed through action
For the participating congregations, the event reflects a straightforward expression of Christian service: churches working together to meet needs outside their own walls.
The scale also allows volunteers to accomplish more in a single morning than many organizations could complete on their own. Painting, cleaning, organizing and preparing facilities may seem ordinary, but that behind-the-scenes work can strengthen nonprofits serving people throughout the year.
Families, friends and community members can participate, although volunteers should review individual project requirements before registering children.
Event and registration information is available through Bethany Church’s Love Our City page.
