On Pentecost Sunday, Churches Across 50 States and Worldwide United to Baptize 20,000+
On June 8, a historic moment unfolded as Baptize America mobilized churches across all 50 U.S. states and beyond for a synchronized day of baptisms and spiritual awakening. This unprecedented event, held on Pentecost Sunday, marked a global movement of transformation, restoration, and renewed faith.
A Vision Realized on Pentecost Sunday
Pentecost Sunday, commemorating the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the early Church, served as the perfect backdrop for this monumental event. Just as Christmas celebrates Jesus’ birth and Easter His resurrection, Pentecost is a day of baptism and spiritual renewal. On June 8, thousands stepped into waters across beaches, rivers, lakes, parks, and sanctuaries to publicly declare their faith.
In total, 650 churches hosted 1,080 baptism events across the United States, with participation from churches of all sizes and denominations. Early reports indicate 26,657 individuals baptized and 6,445 salvations recorded, with numbers expected to rise as final reports from Canada, Sweden, Puerto Rico, and other nations are tallied.
Connecting to Community
Baptize America’s mission extended beyond the act of baptism. A core goal was to connect newly baptized individuals with local church communities to support their spiritual journeys.
Pastor Mark Francey of Oceans Church emphasized this vision, stating: “This wasn’t just about a moment in the water; it was about launching people into a life with Jesus, surrounded by a community that can help them grow. We witnessed countless personal transformations and families baptized together; it was a movement of hope.”

A Global Movement Livestreamed
The event was livestreamed globally, allowing viewers worldwide to witness baptisms in real time. The broadcast, available on YouTube, captured the unity and joy of this historic day.
An Annual Tradition Begins
Looking ahead, Pastor Francey announced that Baptize America will become an annual event, held every Pentecost Sunday. The initiative aims to build momentum, unite churches across denominations, and provide ongoing opportunities for thousands to encounter Jesus through baptism and local church connection.
“This is just the beginning,” said Pastor Francey. “We believe Pentecost Sunday will be marked yearly by revival, renewal, and restoration across America.”
