Why Practical Help Matters Most In A Crisis Pregnancy
Sitting alone, staring at the results of a pregnancy test, fear starts piling on top of fear.
What do you do now?
Some people will say it is not really a baby… yet. Others will tell you that you need to think about your future, your finances, your plans, your life. And when the pressure is that heavy, those thoughts become almost impossible to escape. You are not ready for this. You do not know how you would afford it. You do not know how you would explain it. You do not know how you would care for a child when you can barely see past tomorrow.
But somewhere deep inside, buried beneath all the fear, there is something else too.
A small tug of joy.
You are pregnant.
Maybe it would be different if you had help. Someone willing to be honest with you, pray with you, help you think clearly, and walk through the real questions, including the financial ones.
Maybe then, yes, you could begin to consider being a mom.
And this is where we, you, me, and society need to get real.
Too often, our culture has treated unexpected pregnancy as a problem to be managed instead of a mother and child to be cared for. The world tells women they are precious and important, but then leaves them to face one of life’s most difficult decisions alone. It talks about choice, but often fails to offer the emotional, spiritual, and financial support that would make choosing life feel possible.
Unfortunately, Christians have not always done enough either.
We have rightly defended the life of the unborn child, and we must never stop doing that. But we also have to ask whether we have been as present for the mother as we have been vocal about the issue.
Have we helped carry the burden? Have we made room for her questions, her fear, her shame, her practical needs, and her future? Have we been willing to walk with her after she chooses life, not just plead with her before she does? That is where compassion becomes more than a word.
That is why this ministry matters. Because if we are going to ask a woman to choose life, we must also be willing to help her live with that choice, support that child, and know that she is not alone.
This is where stewardship becomes very practical. For Christian investors, stewardship cannot stop at portfolio management. It has to reach into the places where life is most fragile, and fear is most intense. We are called to use what God has entrusted to us, our resources, our influence, our compassion and our prayers, to protect life and serve people made in the image of God.
We are called, as investment stewards, to fund the light, not just defund the darkness through Biblically Responsible Investing. And while many of us might not have the access or resources to sit with a mom in crisis, we can use what God has blessed us with to make an impact. And one way we can do that is by giving to great ministries like PreBorn!.
We all have an opportunity to turn compassion into action and stewardship into life.
