Vance Condemns Attacks on Erika Kirk – “One of the Most Disgraceful Things I Have Seen In Public Life”
A scheduled Turning Point USA event at the University of Georgia took an unexpected turn this week after conservative speaker Erika Kirk canceled her appearance, citing what organizers described as “serious threats” to her safety.
The event, hosted in partnership with Turning Point USA, was set to feature both Kirk and Vice President JD Vance as part of a broader campus engagement effort aimed at energizing young voters and fostering political dialogue.
According to event organizers, Kirk made the decision to withdraw after security concerns escalated in the days leading up to the event. While specific details about the threats have not been publicly disclosed, officials indicated they were taken seriously enough to warrant her cancellation.
Despite the disruption, Vance proceeded with his planned appearance, delivering remarks to students and attendees gathered on campus. The vice president’s speech focused on key national issues and emphasized the importance of civic engagement among young Americans.
Despite those concerns, the vice president said the decision was ultimately made to move forward. “Let’s let Erika do what she needs to do for herself and her family,” Vance said.
Vance expressed strong personal support for Erika Kirk while condemning disturbed online forums and personalities instigating and profiting from baseless attacks against her. “The thing that makes it so egregious with Erika is that she’s a grieving person who’s trying to carry on her husband’s legacy,” he said, calling the criticism against her “one of the most disgraceful things that I’ve ever seen in public life.”
