From Surge In Bible Sales To Mass Baptisms, These Cultural and Spiritual Moments Point To A Fresh Move Of God

There are seasons when the wind of God’s Spirit quietly blows, and there are seasons when He seems to roar across culture, faith, and public life. Today, a confluence of cultural and spiritual indicators suggests that America may be on the cusp of a fresh outpouring — what many are beginning to call the Fifth Great Awakening. Here are 9 signs that the Spirit is moving again.

Stadium-Scale Gatherings and Prayer Mobilizations9. National Days of Prayer and Prophetic Interpretations of Leadership

1. Bible Sales Are Surging

Americans are buying Bibles in growing numbers. Book tracking firm Circana (formerly Nielsen BookScan) reported a 22% increase in Bible sales in the U.S. through October 2024 versus the previous year, and industry coverage into 2025 shows continued strong demand across translations and formats — study Bibles, women’s editions, and children’s Bibles all contributing to the boom. This renaissance in Scripture engagement is revealing a hunger for clarity and hope in uncertain times.

2. Young People — Especially Young Men — Are Returning to Church

Data from multiple sources reveal a reversal of long-term secular trends: younger generations, including young men, are showing increased commitment to Jesus and church attendance. Barna’s State of the Church 2025 reports a notable rise in Jesus commitment among Gen Z men and growing weekly attendance, and other commentary highlights a broader “quiet revival” among youth that mirrors biblical moves in Acts and echoes the language of Joel 2 about young people rising up.

With chart-topping Christian hits like “Good Day” and “No Longer Bound,” Forrest Frank is reaching millions with the gospel through powerful, spirit-filled music.

3. Christian Worship Music Is Cracking Mainstream Charts

Songs with explicit faith themes are gaining traction beyond traditional Christian outlets. Artists like Brandon Lake and Forrest Frank have seen their music charting — with Lake’s recent album debuting as one of the biggest Christian album launches of 2025 and Frank’s worship-infused work going viral, even appearing on broader Billboard and streaming conversations. Observers note that the blend of high-level artistry and gospel content is creating worship moments that carry across generational and cultural lines.

4. Media Renewal: Faith-Based Storytelling Going Mainstream

High-production biblical and revival-themed media are capturing wide audiences and shaping cultural imagination. The Chosen continues to break expectations, with Season 5 having become one of the largest theatrical faith-based releases, earning significant box office and industry recognition while fueling engagement with the life of Jesus. At the same time, House of David has surged on streaming platforms, becoming Amazon Prime’s top faith drama and being framed by leaders like Greg Laurie as an opportunity for cultural and biblical renewal. These stories are not niche — they are being consumed at scale and are helping reintroduce Scripture into the public square.

5. Revival-Themed Films Resonate Again

The success and cultural ripple of Jesus Revolution (2023) — chronicling the 1970s Jesus Movement in Southern California — continues to serve as a prophetic mirror for today’s hunger. The film surpassed expectations at the box office, signaling that audiences still long for authentic stories of transformation and that revival narratives have commercial and spiritual traction. The timing of that film alongside real-time awakenings (such as the 2023 Asbury outpouring) has led commentators to reflect on continuity between past moves of God and the present.

baptize-so-cal
On May 28, 2023, there were 4,166 people baptized at Baptize SoCal in Pirates Cove, CA. Now, get ready for Baptize California, uniting churches on May 19th in the world’s largest synchronized baptism.

6. Baptism Revivals — Tens of Thousands Publicly Declaring Faith

Mass baptisms have become a visible hallmark of the current stirrings, especially in California. Greg Laurie’s Jesus Revolution baptism events at Pirate’s Cove (happening this weekend) have baptized thousands (6,500 reported between 2023 and 2024 at that site alone), and other large-scale water baptisms—Baptize California and Baptize America in Huntington Beach with over 7,750 in a single event— a public return to the water in testimony and repentance. Organizers and participants point to these as evidence of a great harvest and widespread spiritual awakening.

7. College Revivals — Asbury’s Outpouring Spilling Onto Campuses Nationwide

What began in February 2023 at Asbury University as a spontaneous student-led worship and prayer outpouring morphed into a multi-week revival that drew tens of thousands and became a catalyst for similar expressions on other campuses. Coverage shows the movement spreading to over 20 colleges, with continued reflection on Gen Z’s spiritual hunger and the unexpected longevity and influence of that outpouring. Many leaders refer back to Asbury as a seedbed for collegiate revival culture.

More than 45,000 gathered at Angel Stadium for the 2025 Harvest Crusade with Greg Laurie. Featuring worship by Chris Tomlin and Kari Jobe, a moving testimony from Cathe Laurie, and over 6,500 professions of faith, the one-night event stirred hearts across the nation.

8. Stadium-Scale Gatherings and Prayer Mobilizations

Large-scale gatherings like Greg Laurie’s Harvest Crusades, Che Ahn and Lou Engle’s The Call (and its spiritual progeny The Send), and the emerging Hope California movement are uniting tens of thousands in corporate worship, intercession, and calls for national renewal. These stadium events function both as evangelistic harvest venues and intercessory hubs—tying revival language to cultural influence and civic engagement. Hope California, now launching major convergences (including a planned “Hope L.A.” in 2026), positions itself as a statewide and beyond catalyst for spiritual and social transformation.

9. National Days of Prayer and Prophetic Interpretations of Leadership

President Donald J. Trump officially proclaimed May 1, 2025, a National Day of Prayer, and publicly participated in prayer gatherings at the White House, along with a renewed emphasis on faith. At the same time, certain charismatic and prophetic streams (including voices like Lance Wallnau and the legacy of Kim Clement’s earlier words) have interpreted his leadership in typological terms—likening him to a modern “Cyrus” and interpreting political developments as part of God’s plan.

These nine signs — from a resurgence in Scripture hunger to mass public baptism, from student-led outpourings to faith-centered media and national prayer mobilizations — form solid evidence of God’s work that many believers see as the beginnings of a new awakening. The question facing believers today is not whether the Spirit is moving, but how they will respond: Will they join the movement, pray for continuation, and steward the harvest?
