250,000 Worship on the National Mall, Millions Join Globally in Unprecedented Movement for America and the World

In a historic event this Saturday, 250,000 people (mostly women) gathered on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., on the Day of Atonement for a united day of prayer and fasting, while an estimated 10 million tuned in online worldwide. This monumental gathering, born from a vision spanning several years, marked a “Last Stand” of unity and intercession on behalf of the United States and the world.

The movement was inspired by a prophetic word from 2014, declaring that a million women would one day gather in Washington, D.C., to pray for America in the spirit of Jeremiah. After years of preparation and mobilization, it happened this past weekend. Lou Engle, a prominent organizer of the event titled, A Million Women shared that for over 500 days, prayer warriors and organizers had been gearing up for this very moment, sounding the alarm and calling the nation to repentance and unity.

Moment of Silence

During the gathering, Engle called for a moment of silence, leading the attendees in solemn reflection before God. He emphasized the gravity of the moment, stating:

“Right now, I just want a moment of silence. We stand before the Lord of the whole Earth. This is a global Esther moment. We do not just stand before human beings, coming here to be blessed—we are standing as a holy priesthood before the whole Heavenly courtroom. What you do here as representatives of a whole nation affects principalities and powers.”

Engle continued, reading from Scripture to inspire those gathered:

“But you have come to Mount Zion and the City of the Living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels… to the spirits of righteous men made perfect and to Jesus, the mediator of a New Covenant, and to the sprinkled blood which speaks better than the blood of Abel.”

He urged the crowd to lift their hearts and visions toward Heaven, saying, “We are joining the Heavenly Choir… This is not an earthly gathering; this is a gathering in the heavens.”

Day of Atonement

The gathering took place on Saturday, the Day of Atonement, a sacred day of fasting observed by Jews worldwide. Participants joined in solidarity, fasting and praying for divine intervention in America and the world. Organizers encouraged viewers to stay engaged throughout the day, participate in communion, and join in corporate prayers and worship.

One of the most anticipated moments of the day was the largest communion service ever held in America. This collective act of faith symbolized applying the blood of Jesus over the nation’s “doorposts,” a powerful act of spiritual covering and unity.

As the event grew in momentum, it spread globally. Over 50 nations, including Tanzania, Ghana, Norway, and Jamaica, held simultaneous gatherings of prayer and worship in support of the event. Women from across the globe joined in faith, believing for a shift and the outpouring of God’s Holy Spirit in their nations and the world.

A Global Movement

“This is a global movement,” organizers declared. “Today is not just about us in America; it’s about a worldwide move of God. We believe that as we gather in unity, God’s glory will cover the Earth as the waters cover the sea.”

In addition to the live gathering on the National Mall, participants online were encouraged to submit the names of children and loved ones they were praying for, with plans to display these names on large screens throughout the day. Organizers invited attendees to agree in prayer for their children, particularly those who had strayed from the faith.

Historic Gathering

As thousands streamed into the Mall, the atmosphere was filled with anticipation, faith, and a sense of purpose. Worship music echoed in the background as people arrived from across the country, eager to be part of this pivotal moment in history.

“This is a significant day for America and the world,” one of the organizers said. “We are here, united, praying for revival, restoration, and for God’s intervention in our land.”

The event marks a powerful moment in the history of America, as believers stand in unity, praying for a new season of revival and breakthrough leading up to one of the most important elections in our nation’s history. Yet, we know that whoever wins in November, Jesus is King and every knee will bow, every tongue will confess that He is Lord.
