New Leadership Set to Continue Legacy of Evangelism and Discipleship
Campus Crusade for Christ International, known as Cru in the U.S., one of the world’s largest evangelism and discipleship ministries, has announced that David Robbins will assume the role of president starting in July.
David Robbins, who brings over 20 years of experience within the organization, currently serves as the CEO of FamilyLife, a branch of Cru focused on strengthening families’ relationships with God and each other. Robbins has a rich history with Cru, having launched a ministry aimed at young adults in New York City, led a student ministry team in Italy, and served as a regional director for the U.S. Campus Ministries in the Southeast Region.
4th president in Cru history
Robbins, 46, will become the fourth president of Cru, succeeding Steve Sellers. Sellers, who announced his decision to transition to a new role within the ministry in January, expressed his confidence in Robbins’ leadership.
“I’ve spent nearly five decades dedicated to this ministry, and I believe the best years of our ministry are still ahead,” Sellers stated. “It was a joy to serve as president, and I feel absolutely confident that God has His hand on David Robbins to lead us into the future, focused on our unchanging mission of evangelism and discipleship.”
The board of directors conducted an extensive selection process to identify the new president, considering a diverse list of candidates. After much prayer and deliberation, they unanimously chose Robbins.
Thankful for all the prayers
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to the thousands of staff members, volunteers, and donors worldwide who prayed for us as we sought the Lord’s guidance for the next president,” said Barry Cannada, chairman of the board of directors. “On behalf of the board, I am pleased to announce David Robbins as the next president of Campus Crusade for Christ International/Cru.”
As president, Robbins is committed to furthering Cru’s mission to fulfill the Great Commission through evangelism and discipleship.
“I am deeply humbled to serve the Lord in this new role alongside faithful and faith-filled staff, volunteers, and partners around the world,” Robbins said. “Together, we will continue to trust God to pursue our mission so that people in every tongue, tribe, and nation can come to know and follow Jesus.”
Robbins holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Mississippi. He and his wife, Meg, reside in Orlando, Florida, with their four children.
A presidential commissioning ceremony will be held on July 18 in Orlando, which will also be livestreamed on Cru.org for those who wish to join virtually. Robbins will complete his role at FamilyLife before his commissioning, initiating a search process for the ministry’s new CEO.
