Point Loma Nazarene Students Say They Feel “Silenced” After Repeated Denials From School Leadership
For the third time, students at Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) in San Diego have been denied official recognition for a Turning Point USA (TPUSA) chapter — a decision that has sparked frustration among conservative students who say the school is silencing their voices.
The announcement came in a Nov. 5 email from university president Kerry Fulcher, notifying students that the school’s Associated Student Body (ASB) Board of Directors voted to reject the proposed chapter after a review process.
“I felt silenced when I got that email,” said Luke Cole, the elected secretary of the proposed chapter and a third-year student at the Christian university. “I felt like I couldn’t speak anymore.”
According to the email, obtained by Fox News Digital, the ASB Board raised concerns about TPUSA’s Professor Watchlist — a program that publicly lists professors accused of discriminating against conservative students.
The TPUSA website describes the watchlist as an effort to “expose and document” bias on college campuses. However, critics claim it can lead to harassment and tension between students and faculty.
This latest rejection marks the third attempt by Point Loma students to gain university approval for a TPUSA chapter. Supporters say they’ve complied with every procedural requirement and argue the school is suppressing political diversity on campus.
The university has not released further details about the decision or whether the students may appeal.
