Newport Beach’s Surf Championships return this weekend, bringing amateur competitors to one of Southern California’s best-known surf communities.

The City of Newport Beach Recreation & Senior Services Department and Salty Crew are presenting the 2026 competition Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 26–27. Competition begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, with semifinals and finals scheduled for Sunday.
Location depends on the waves
Competition will take place at either 54th or 56th Street, with organizers choosing the location based on surf conditions.
The championships are exclusively for amateur riders and include multiple competitive divisions.
