Lamb Battled Serious Health Issues, Daystar Mourns Loss
BEDFORD, Texas — Daystar Television Network announced today that its President and founder, Joni Lamb, has gone home to be with the Lord. Lamb passed away on Thursday, May 7.
Lamb had been dealing with serious health matters privately, including a recent back injury that compounded those challenges and led to a more serious medical situation. Despite the dedicated efforts of her medical team and the prayers of many, her condition worsened in the last few days.
In a heartfelt statement, Daystar shared:
“With heavy hearts, we share the news that Joni Lamb graduated to Heaven this morning.
We know that she is in the presence of Jesus, reunited with Marcus, and receiving her reward for a beautiful life lived in surrender to the Lord.
Joni has been an inspiration to millions, but most of all to her family and all of us at Daystar. She has modeled what it means to be fearless, to be bold, and to stand for righteousness even when it’s unpopular. Her love and compassion for people were unparalleled. She will be so greatly missed.
We are thankful that we do not grieve as those who have no hope. And until we see Joni again, we will continue in this mission of taking that hope, that promise, to the whole world.”
Joni founded Daystar Television Network alongside her late husband Marcus in 1993. Under her leadership, Daystar grew into one of the largest Christian television networks in the world, reaching viewers in nearly every country through satellite, cable, streaming, and digital platforms. She spent nearly four decades on-air and behind the scenes, building a ministry that brought the Gospel into millions of homes.
“Joni’s love for the Lord and for the people we serve shaped this ministry from the beginning,” said the Daystar Board of Directors. “We grieve her loss, and we are grateful for the legacy of faith she leaves behind.”
The family has asked for prayers and for privacy at this time. Information about a memorial service will be shared by the family at the appropriate time.
Daystar’s mission remains unchanged. Previously, Lamb worked with the board to ensure an executive leadership team was in place so that the ministry would continue uninterrupted. Programming will proceed as scheduled, with on-air tributes to follow in the coming days.
