Franklin Graham calls for prayer for the family
“Join me in praying for Missouri State Representative Ben Baker, his wife Naomi, and their family today. Last night, their daughter Natalie and son-in-law Davy Lloyd were tragically attacked and killed by gangs in Haiti, where they were serving as full-time missionaries. As a father, I cannot imagine the pain that this family is feeling right now. Pray for God to comfort and strengthen them in the difficult days ahead,” said Graham.
In his post, Graham also offered a biblical reflection, quoting Psalm 46:1: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Representative Ben Baker, a Republican, has served Missouri’s 160th District since 2018, representing Newton County, which includes his hometown of Neosho. Throughout his six years in office, Baker has been known for his dedication to his constituents and his commitment to public service.
Outpouring of love and support
The Bakers’ family has received an outpouring of support and condolences from the community and beyond. Friends and colleagues of Representative Baker have expressed their deep sorrow and extended their sympathies to the grieving family.
Ben Baker updated his friends and family via social media writing, “My heart is broken in a thousand pieces. I’ve never felt this kind of pain. Most of you know my daughter and son-in-law Davy and Natalie Lloyd are full time missionaries in Haiti. They were attacked by gangs this evening and were both killed. They went to Heaven together. Please pray for my family we desperately need strength. And please pray for the Lloyd family as well. I have no other words for now.”
Further details regarding the attack and the current situation in Haiti remain limited. The country has been grappling with significant unrest and gang violence, which has posed severe challenges for residents and foreign nationals alike.
The Baker family is known for their strong faith and dedication to service, both in their local community and through their missionary work abroad. The loss of Natalie and Davy Lloyd is deeply felt by all who knew them.
As the family navigates this difficult period, they are surrounded by the prayers of many who are believing for their solace and strength.
