Mother’s Beach, Bayside Drive Beach and Baby Beach are listed; no water closures are in effect.
Orange County’s beach-water monitoring site lists bacterial warnings at three locations as of Thursday, October 1.
The affected areas are Mother’s Beach in Huntington Harbour, Bayside Drive Beach in Newport Bay and all of Baby Beach in Dana Point Harbor.
The Mother’s Beach and Baby Beach warnings were posted October 1. The Bayside Drive Beach warning was posted September 29.
Warning signs indicate that bacteria levels exceed state health standards and water contact may cause illness. These postings are not sewage-related closure orders.
The county’s site listed no ocean, harbor or bay water closures at the time of the check.
Beachgoers should avoid water contact in posted areas and check conditions before swimming. The county updates its listings when conditions change, so a warning’s status may differ by the time visitors arrive.
Health officials also advise avoiding water affected by discharging storm drains, creeks and rivers, along with runoff on the beach.
Current information is available through OC Beachinfo or the county’s recorded update line at 714-433-6400.
