American dream story captured in new Amazon film
A combination of family, faith, and work ethic is what José M. Hernández credits with helping him transform his own life from that of a migrant farmer into a NASA astronaut. His story is the inspiration behind the new Amazon film, Million Miles Away.
“I was so glad that I had that ingrown perseverance inside me that never let me give up,” shared Hernández in a recent interview with CBN. Hernández credits his time working as a migrant farm worker for helping him develop a work ethic and “can’t give up attitude. This attitude and skill is what has made the difference.
“We are living in times where we have an audience that can be very cynical. I think this is a very touching, emotional, simple story that I hope will connect with that and make that cynicism go away a bit and connect with that good stuff,” shared Alejandra Marquez Abella who directed the film.
While Million Miles Away is not an overtly Christian film, the themes of perseverance, hope, family, and community come through strongly and inspire audiences to believe again, and hope again. No doubt it’s a story that more people, especially now need to hear. Michael Peña, Rosa Salazar Rosa Salazar, and Julio Cesar Cedillo
