Costa Mesa performing arts center marks four decades serving Orange County
Segerstrom Center for the Arts is celebrating its 40th anniversary this month, four decades after the Costa Mesa campus opened with the goal of creating a major performing-arts destination in Orange County.
A recent campus-wide anniversary celebration drew more than 5,000 Orange County residents, according to the Los Angeles Times.
A Major OC Arts Institution
The center has grown into a regional home for Broadway productions, dance, jazz, concerts and the resident Pacific Symphony. Its campus now includes Segerstrom Hall, the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall and outdoor public spaces that host community programming.
The anniversary also comes after a difficult pandemic period that forced major staffing and programming cuts. The Times reports the organization has since returned to positive financial footing, with its most recent tax filings showing $106 million in revenue.
For Costa Mesa, the milestone marks four decades of an institution that helped establish the city as one of Southern California’s major arts destinations.
