Thousands stand in support for Israel as Christian, Jewish leaders unite
Thousands came out to show their support for the nation of Israel in New York City yesterday as the “United for Israel March” rallied supporters. Led by Christian gospel singer Sean Feucht and joined by notable figures like Eric Metaxas and Russell Johnson, the march resonated with a resounding message of solidarity with Israel and its supporters, particularly Jewish students, amid ongoing tensions and protests on the Columbia University campus, and across the nation.
The event, the first of its kind organized in response to escalating debates and demonstrations concerning Israel and Palestine, sought to foster support for US ally Israel and counter the attack on freedom by Hamas supporters. Despite facing hurdles, including hurdles from Facebook/Meta blocking posts and limiting the reach of march-related content, participants remained undeterred in their mission to amplify support for Israel.
Majority support for Israel
Feucht, known for his activism and advocacy work, expressed his gratitude for the turnout and emphasized the importance of standing firm in support of Israel, especially in what has become a hostile, toxic, and dangerous situation on major universities condemned irrefutably by elected officials. Feucht highlighted the fact that more are for Israel than against it, stating on X, “Their attempts failed miserably. We had thousands. They had less than 50. We are the majority.”
Eric Metaxas, a prominent author and speaker, echoed these sentiments, underlining the need to stand up for the nation of Israel and show support for Jews on college campus. Metaxas was seen marching the streets with a large photo of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, referencing the late pastor and reformer’s stand with the Jews during the Holocaust. Metaxas reflected on X, “In the footsteps of #Bonhoeffer in Harlem, Christians should ALWAYS lead in standing against hatred of Jews! God bless @SeanFeucht for organizing yesterday’s rally, which soon became THOUSANDS of NYers showing up to support Israel — including my friend @PattyHeaton ! HALLELUJAH!
Russell Johnson, another key figure in the march, was seen raising his voice in support for Jews.
Despite the challenges posed by social media restrictions and the broader climate of dissent, the “United for Israel March” at Columbia University stood as a testament to the resilience and determination of freedom for the nation of Israel and the US.
