President Trump’s “National Liberation Day” tariffs are a responsible strike for American workers, backed by proven results. The liberal elite’s outrage is absurd—tariffs are global, but they can’t stand putting America first.

Trump’s Bold Tariff Move Proves America Can Win—Despite the Elite’s Whining

Today, President Donald J. Trump declared “National Liberation Day,” unveiling tariffs that finally level the playing field for American workers and businesses. For the first time in decades, the United States is playing fair against a world that’s been fleecing us dry. And predictably, the liberal elite—those sanctimonious talking heads and globalist cheerleaders—are clutching their pearls, crying “trade war” and “economic doom.” Their hypocrisy is as laughable as it is absurd. Tariffs aren’t some radical Trump invention; they’re a tool every nation uses—especially against us. The only difference? Trump’s tariffs put America first, and the chattering class just can’t stomach it.

Stewarding a Season of National Transformation

As Old as Trade Itself

Let’s get one thing straight: tariffs are as old as trade itself. China slaps duties on our goods to protect its industries. The European Union hits American exports with barriers to coddle their farmers and manufacturers. Canada, Japan, India—you name it, they’ve all got tariffs aimed at keeping their economies humming while we’ve been left holding the bag. For years, the U.S. has been the world’s punching bag, importing cheap junk while our factories rusted and our workers lost hope. Trump’s move isn’t reckless—it’s responsible. It’s about time we played the same game everyone else does, but smarter.

The White House laid out the case with cold, hard facts. During Trump’s first term, tariffs on steel and aluminum slashed imports by nearly a third, sparked over $15.7 billion in new steel facilities, and created thousands of jobs—3,200 direct ones alone, with wages rising in places like Minnesota’s iron ore country. A 2024 study confirmed those tariffs “strengthened the U.S. economy” and brought manufacturing back home. The U.S. International Trade Commission found they cut Chinese imports and boosted our production with barely a blip in prices. And don’t take my word for it—even Janet Yellen, Biden’s old Treasury Secretary, admitted last year that tariffs don’t jack up costs for Americans. So much for the inflation boogeyman.

Now, Trump’s doubling down, and the numbers are even more jaw-dropping. A 2024 analysis projects a 10% global tariff could grow our economy by $728 billion, create 2.8 million jobs, and lift household incomes by 5.7%. That’s not a trade war—that’s a prosperity bomb. Steel giants like Nucor and Cleveland-Cliffs poured billions into new mills during Trump’s first term, doubling their investments from $1.5 billion to $4.2 billion in just two years. This isn’t theory; it’s proven. Tariffs work. They’re working now. And they’ll keep working as long as we’ve got a president who doesn’t bow to Beijing or Brussels. Already in response to Trump’s tariffs, over $5,000,000,000 has been committed to the US Economy by American companies and other nations, including SoftBank and Hyndai.

Why the Meltdown

So why the meltdown from the media and our so-called allies? Back in 2018, PBS wailed that Trump’s tariffs would “imperil a delicate global economic rebound.” NPR fretted about a “trade war.” The New Yorker warned of a “Trump Recession.” Politico clutched its collective chest over “retaliatory threats” from abroad. Guess what? They were wrong then, and they’re wrong now. No recession. No collapse. Just jobs, investment, and a stronger America. The liberal elite’s crystal ball is cracked, but they’re too smug to admit it. They’d rather see us grovel as the world’s doormat than cheer a policy that puts our people first.

And let’s talk about those “allies” crying foul. The same nations whining about Trump’s tariffs today have been slapping duties on our goods for decades. They’ve built their economies on our backs, and now they’re shocked—shocked!—that we’re finally pushing back. It’s not a tantrum; it’s justice. The outrage from foreign capitals and their media lapdogs here at home is nothing but crocodile tears from a crowd that can’t fathom a U.S. president who doesn’t kowtow to their interests. They’re blowing this up because they’re terrified of an America that stands tall.

It’s Patriotism & Capitalism at its Best

The truth is, the liberal elite don’t get it. They never will. Trump does. His tariffs aren’t just policy; they’re a promise kept to the forgotten men and women of this country. The Atlantic Council nailed it: tariffs shift the incentives back to buying American. That’s not protectionism—it’s patriotism.

“National Liberation Day” isn’t just a catchy phrase; it’s a wake-up call. We’re done being the world’s sucker. Trump’s tariffs are a bold, responsible strike against decades of exploitation, backed by data and results the naysayers can’t refute. The media and their globalist pals can scream all they want, but the numbers don’t lie—and neither does the roar of American steel mills firing back up. This is what winning looks like. If the liberal elite can’t handle it, that’s their problem. The rest of us are too busy building an America that thrives.
