Jim Streit shared his account with Liberty University students during Global Focus Week.
Missionary pilot Jim Streit told Liberty University students October 2 that he prayed for an armed hijacker during a flight in Africa about 10 months earlier.
According to the university’s account of his remarks, the man demanded that Streit and his passenger fly to Chad. Streit said he spoke to him about forgiveness through Jesus Christ.
“I said I was going to bring Jesus’ name into this cockpit,” he recalled.
Streit said the man eventually allowed him to land at a local airport, where authorities arrested the hijacker. He and his passenger later spoke with the man and prayed for him.
The longtime pilot, whose work has included flights for Samaritan’s Purse, also encouraged students to consider how their professional skills could serve overseas missions.
