Conservative Pastor Jack Hibbs Commends California Governor for Vetoing Immigration Bill, Urges More ‘Logical and Reasonable’ Decisions

In an unexpected event, Pastor Jack Hibbs, founder of Real Life Network and senior pastor at Calvary Chapel Chino Hills, took to Twitter to extend his gratitude to California Governor Gavin Newsom. Known for his outspoken conservative stance, Hibbs has rarely, if ever, expressed support for Newsom. However, in a tweet that has gained national attention, Hibbs thanked the governor for vetoing a controversial bill.

“FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER IN MY LIFE – I am going to thank and complement California Governor Gavin Newsom,” Hibbs began, addressing the governor directly in a message that took many by surprise.

A Rare Commendation

Hibbs, a nationally syndicated radio and TV host, is often critical of California’s progressive leadership, particularly when it comes to issues of religious liberty, education, and immigration. However, this time, his message was one of praise.

“Mr. Governor, on behalf of millions of Californians, we want to thank you for vetoing a terrible Bill. I do not know your motive, and I do not know why you’ve had a change of mind, but it doesn’t matter as long as you have done the right thing,” Hibbs continued in his post.

The bill in question aimed to allocate funds for housing illegal immigrants, a proposal that would have been funded by California taxpayers. Hibbs, representing a large base of concerned Californians, made it clear that this veto was a victory for those who believe the state’s resources should be used more judiciously.

Hope for More Change?

In his tweet, Hibbs expressed hope that Newsom’s decision might signal a shift toward more “logical and reasonable decisions” in California’s future governance.

“I appreciate whatever is going on in your head that is leading you to make such decisions like the banning of cell phone use in public school room classes,” Hibbs said, referencing another recent policy change from the governor’s office that aligned with his views on educational reform.

While Hibbs acknowledged the ideological gap that often exists between him and the governor, his message was clear: doing the right thing, even once, is enough for appreciation.

A Call for Border Security

Not one to shy away from expressing his views on national security, Hibbs ended his message by challenging Newsom to take an even bolder step—securing California’s borders. He urged the governor to protect local communities and children by making border security a top priority before his term ends in 2026.

“This might be too much to ask Gavin, but if you’d like to make world history, please decide to secure our borders immediately so that our communities and our children can be safe again,” Hibbs concluded.

A Moment of Bipartisanship?

Hibbs’ public praise for Governor Newsom is a rare moment in a state often divided by deep political and ideological differences. Whether this marks a shift in the governor’s policies or a singular instance of alignment between the two remains to be seen. Many remain skeptical of Newsom’s motives behind the veto. It appears that at least leading up to the election, Newsom and the rest of the DNC is trying to hide its radicalized agenda for America in hopes of gaining in the polls amid what is likely to be a Trump victory in November.
