Hamas terrorist groups claims 5,000 rocket attack against Israel
Hundreds are injured across Israel as Hamas claims a major rocket attack on Israel in what is being called ‘Al-Aqsa Storm.’
The surprise attack by Hamas, a Palestinian Islamist movement is the most intense conflict since 2021 when a 10-day war was waged. Israel media is reporting that terrorists have infiltrated Israel and opened fire killing at least one woman, and injuring hundreds more, as 5,000 rockets were launched. Palestinian media is reporting that Israelis have been taken captive. The battle is taking place in southern and central Israel. The battle began at approximately 6:30 a.m. on the Jewish Sabbath day, and also on the last day of a series of Jewish high holidays.
Israel’s defense minister pledged that “Israel will win.” Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant made the proclamation after the Israeli military cabinet meeting in Tel Aviv early Saturday morning. The attack is being called unprecedented. Civilians in the area surrounding the Gaza Strip are required to stay next to shelters. Reuters reports that Hamas military commander Mohammad Deif announced the operation via broadcast on Hamas media calling Palestinians everywhere to fight. Deif is quoted as saying, “This is the day of the greatest battle to end the last occupation on earth.”
