Kirk Franklin’s new lyrics stir controversy

When Kirk Franklin‘s new lyrics describe the lion and the lamb bowing down to the goat, there was some explaining to do, to say the least. The gospel singer and performing artist caused some confusion. The phrase goat has become a buzzword in sports and in popular culture of late. Standing as an acronym for the “greatest of all time” the phrase is thrown around in everyday street speak. However, translating the word into Christian culture, goat stands for those outside of the kingdom, not included with the sheep in the kingdom of God. When Franklin then proceeded to say that the lion and the lamb will bow down to the goat, it was even more concerning.

Franklin however offered an explanation to his fans and the public who voiced their concerns that the Christian gospel leader had went astray. Franklin explained that he was using hyperbole to explain biblical truth.

The tweet though started a firestorm of conversation on the social network quickly garnering 452 replies and comments everything from people defending the musician to others calling him out for making a serious error.

  1. Hyperbole can send someone to hell. You don’t use metaphors when it comes to the truth. You are compromised by the god of this world. Is a shame.
