A woman was struck while walking in a marked crosswalk at Baltic Avenue and Burnett Street.
Long Beach police are searching for the driver of a white pickup truck involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision Friday evening.
Officers responded to Baltic Avenue and Burnett Street at approximately 7:20 p.m. after receiving reports that a pedestrian had been struck.
Investigators said the woman was walking north in a marked crosswalk on Baltic Avenue when a white pickup traveling south attempted to turn east onto Burnett Street and hit her.
The driver continued east on Burnett Street without stopping, according to police.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the woman to a hospital, where she died from her injuries. Her name had not been released Sunday morning pending notification of her family.
Police said their preliminary investigation did not indicate that speed, distracted driving or impaired driving contributed to the collision. The investigation remains active, and no arrest has been announced.
