An adult pedestrian died after being struck by an unknown vehicle and then a Metro train on Long Beach Boulevard, police said.
Long Beach police are asking for information as detectives investigate a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred Saturday night near Long Beach Boulevard and East 23rd Street.
Officers were dispatched at approximately 8:52 p.m. on Sept. 5 and found an adult pedestrian on the Metro light-rail tracks. The person was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
What Investigators Say Happened
Police said the preliminary investigation indicates an unidentified vehicle was traveling southbound on Long Beach Boulevard when it struck the pedestrian in the roadway. The pedestrian was subsequently struck by a Metro light-rail vehicle.
The driver of the first vehicle left the scene and has not been identified. Police have not released the pedestrian’s name pending notification of next of kin.
