Tim Tebow Announces the Homegoing of His Father, Bob Tebow
In a moving tribute that has resonated deeply with believers across the country, former Heisman Trophy winner, NFL quarterback, and outspoken Christian Tim Tebow shared the news that his father, Bob Tebow, passed away on Thursday, April 23, at the age of 78 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Rather than focusing solely on grief, Tebow pointed friends and fans to the eternal hope in Jesus Christ, declaring that Heaven had welcomed home a “hero of the faith.”
“Heaven ushered in a hero of the faith last night as my Dad was welcomed home!,” shared Tebow in his announcement posted on social media. “Many will say sorry for your loss but the truth is he’s not lost, we know exactly where he is.He’s home. Forever!I asked him last week what he looked forward to most about Heaven, and he simply said, ‘Jesus.’ He couldn’t wait to see Jesus face to face. Praise God that his wait is over. Death has been swallowed up in victory. He’s healed and whole now. So we don’t mourn as those with no hope. See you soon Dad!”
Tim ‘s wife, Demi-Leigh Tebow, also shared a deeply personal tribute, offering a tender perspective on the man she knew as “Grandpa”:
“I didn’t get to know the big, strong, tough, character-building man so many speak of. I got to know the gentle grandpa… the one who loved ice cream, a good laugh and never met a dog he didn’t like (and who was far too easy on me for marrying his youngest son – for that I’m thankful).
“I am grateful for the man who raised the love of my life. The man who shaped him to be strong yet humble, courageous yet kind, bold yet deeply compassionate… a protector, a leader, and above all, a man who loves God and loves people well.
“‘Grief is the price we pay for love.’ What a privilege it is to have loved someone so dearly that their absence feels this significant.
“We know heaven is rejoicing as he is welcomed into his forever home… but on this side of heaven, the emptiness is real, and it is heavy.
“We will miss him. And we will do our best to carry forward the legacy he lived so faithfully.
“Mr. Tebow, Thank you for the extraordinary, bold and faithful life you lived and the significant impact you had on countless lives.”
The Tebow family has long been known for their strong Christian witness. Bob Tebow, a longtime missionary who founded the Bob Tebow Evangelistic Association, spent decades sharing the Gospel, including extensive work in the Philippines. Together with his wife Pam, he raised five children, instilling in them a passionate commitment to Christ that would later influence millions through Tim’s platform in sports, media, and ministry.
Bob had been battling Parkinson’s disease since 2016. In recent years, the illness had progressed significantly, leaving him confined to a wheelchair. Yet even in his final days, his focus remained steadfast on his Savior.
Tebow’s words echo 1 Thessalonians 4:13, reminding believers that we “do not mourn as those who have no hope.” They also point to the victory described in 1 Corinthians 15:54 — “Death has been swallowed up in victory” — a promise that brought comfort to the family as they celebrated Bob’s complete healing and reunion with Jesus.
As tributes continue to pour in, many are reflecting on Bob Tebow’s legacy of faithful service, family devotion, and unwavering anticipation of seeing Jesus face to face.
While the family grieves the physical absence of a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, they do so with the confident assurance that he is more alive than ever — whole, healed, and forever home in the presence of the One he loved most.
See you soon, indeed.
Prayers for the Tebow family are appreciated as they celebrate a life well lived for the glory of God and carry forward the legacy of faith he modeled so beautifully.
