Missionary Trucker Takes Message On The Road
The Apostle Paul wrote over 2,000 years ago that he was not ashamed of the gospel for it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes. Trucker, Sam Kholi, is living out this truth of Scripture in a way that even Paul the Apostle may be inspired by. Originally from Syria and now residing in California Kholi is clearly not ashamed of the gospel and he wants the whole world to know. His message is not just for the US, Canada, or any country, it’s for the whole world and especially for Hollywood. His white truck reads in large, red, bold font, “Jesus Christ is Lord” followed by a subtitle, “Not a Swear Word”, sharing the clear message of the gospel with thousands of people a year.
“I came up with this message as a direct result of Hollywood using the Lord’s name in vain,” explained Kholi who wants people everywhere and especially Hollywood to recognize that Jesus Christ is Lord, not a swear word.
“I’m kind of like married to the Lord Jesus Christ so when someone uses the Lord’s name in vain, that’s like someone cursing your wife or your best friend,” he explained.
Kholi explained that he gets various responses, some positive, some negative but in either case, he feels he is fulfilling his purpose as a truck driving missionary.
“I consider myself like a missionary because I get a chance to share a lot. Obviously, the truck is very big. I park it on bridges so a lot of people can see it.”
Kholi explained that he started with an RV but because of the truck’s size, it’s as effective as a billboard. Inspired by texts like Romans 10:9-10 which reads, If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
“I get a lot of thumbs up on the road, those people love Jesus and love the Lord. You get some people to curse me out, flip me off.”
He shared one story of a 70+-year-old woman who relentlessly verbally attacked him over the message, but he wasn’t discouraged. He closed his door and his windows and didn’t even respond.
Kholi is a strong believer and he knows the power of confessing Jesus Christ is Lord, and shared people have told him after reading the words that they too became a believer.
“These four words are so powerful. This is how I became a Christian- by believing Jesus Christ is Lord. I have had people tell me they’ve read the message and believed and committed their life to Christ.”
Kholi shared that his desire is to spread the gospel and help others come to know Jesus as he does.
“I wish that anyone who hears me will believe that Jesus Christ is Lord, that’s my heart’s desire – that people will come to know Jesus as I do as my Lord and Savior.”
