Nicole Shanahan recounts her journey to faith in Christ, from personal loss to a transformative baptism
Nicole Shanahan, former vice-presidential candidate and running mate of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., recently took to X to share her personal testimony of coming to faith in Jesus Christ, detailing the personal trials and divine encounters that led to her conversion.
A Journey Through Loss and Guidance
Shanahan, an attorney by trade, mother, and former wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin, revealed that her faith journey began in September 2024, following a personal tragedy and a recognition of spiritual forces at work in her own life. During that time, she began praying and met Bishop Diane through the Christian witness and prayers of her masseuse, Ade. Diane led her into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and into the study of God’s word. She posed the question point blank, “Do you want to be saved?” Shanahan admitted she didn’t fully understand the question but recalled, “I felt something shift in me. I knew I needed help.”
Baptism Before the Inauguration
In January, Diane texted Shanahan, encouraging her to consider baptism. “At that moment, I knew it was time,” she recalled. The night before President Trump’s inauguration, she was baptized in her backyard. “Diane read to me about Jesus’ blood washing away sins. I felt it—like I was being freed from something heavy.”
Shanahan reflected on her past skepticism about spiritual warfare. “I always believed in God but thought demons were just superstition. Now, I see how real the battle is,” she said, explaining how her experiences in politics and life led her to recognize the forces of good and evil.
In 2014, Shanahan converted to Judaism, drawn to its rich traditions and family values. However, after reading the New Testament, she described feeling as if a veil had been lifted. “For over a decade, I identified as Jewish,” she wrote. “But now, with the New Testament in my hands, I see the world’s spiritual pain in a way I never could before. It’s like a veil has been lifted, revealing a deeper understanding of the struggle between light and darkness.”

A Call to Seek and Find
Shanahan concluded her testimony with encouragement for others who may be searching. “For those who are searching, who feel the same longing I once did, I can only say this: keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking. Faith is not about having all the answers but about trusting in the One who does. And when you find Him, you will know you are finally home.”
“If you are seeking, keep going. Ask, knock, and He will answer.” She ended her post with Psalm 127:1 in Latin: Nisi Dominus aedificaverit domum, in vanum laboraverunt qui aedificant eam. (“Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.”)
