House Intel Report Reveals 180 Degree Shift by Intelligence Committee at Obama’s Directive
A newly declassified report from the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence has revealed what Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, is describing as a coup against the American people and an attempt by President Obama to subvert the will of the people after Trump won the 2016 election. The coup involves the origins of the Russia-Trump collusion narrative during the 2016 U.S. presidential election. The committee found that the U.S. intelligence community did not have any direct evidence that Russian President Vladimir Putin sought to help elect Donald Trump, but that, at what it called the “unusual” direction of then-President Barack Obama, intelligence officials released “potentially biased” or “implausible” assessments suggesting otherwise leading to a years long coup against President Trump.
“Obama’s been caught directly, stated President Trump yesterday. “What they did at the 2016 and 2020 elections is criminal at the highest level,” stated President Trump.
Gabbard, a former Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii, authorized the declassification of the report and said in response, “There was a shift—a 180-degree shift—from the intelligence community’s assessment leading up to the election to the one President Obama directed to produce after Donald Trump won. It was completely contradictory to the assessments that had come previously.”
She elaborated further, stating, “This is about an unelected bureaucracy using its power to mislead the American people and subvert democracy.”
The Obama-era officials have largely remained silent following the release. However, a spokesman for former President Obama, Patrick Rodenbush, issued a rare public statement defending the administration’s actions.
“Out of respect for the office of the presidency, our office does not normally dignify the constant nonsense and misinformation flowing out of this White House with a response,” Rodenbush said. “But these claims are outrageous enough to merit one.”
“These bizarre allegations are ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction,” he continued. “Nothing in the document issued last week undercuts the widely accepted conclusion that Russia worked to influence the 2016 presidential election but did not successfully manipulate any votes.”
He added, “These findings were affirmed in a 2020 report by the bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee, led by then-Chairman Marco Rubio.”
Author and radio host Eric Metaxas responded strongly to the revelations. “This week when the Director of National Intelligence released a special memo, it confirmed what many of us already suspected: Russiagate wasn’t just a political smear. It was an effort to overturn the will of the American people.”
“This wasn’t a coup against President Trump as much as it was against the American people. We the People get to elect our leaders. We are a free, self-governing republic. This isn’t about politics,” he added.
Gabbard who stated more information is forthcoming later this week warned that political weaponization within the intelligence community represents a grave threat. “Our democracy depends on trust—in our elections, in our institutions. When that trust is betrayed from within, the American people deserve to know.”
The report has rekindled calls for accountability at the highest levels of U.S. government, something Gabbard says is forthcoming and is what the American people deserve.
