In a fiery new exchange, former President Donald Trump has doubled down on CBS’s 60 Minutes of manipulating an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris to improve her image. Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social to claim that CBS edited Harris’ answers, asserting they were changed to make her seem more “intelligent” during the October 7 interview. He even went as far as to call the incident “the biggest scandal in broadcast history,” raising concerns about election interference.

Trump’s called for the release of the full transcript of the interview. Something they have yet to do in the last two weeks. “When will CBS release their Transcript of the fraudulent Interview with Comrade Kamala Harris? They changed her answer in order to make Kamala look intelligent, rather than ‘dumb as a rock.’ This may be the Biggest Scandal in Broadcast History! CBS MUST GET THE TRANSCRIPT OUT NOW — Litigation has already started. Harris wasn’t able to put two sentences together, so they completely removed her answer, and put in another one. The Public has a right to know what was changed to save this TOTALLY UNFIT Presidential Candidate from our Country’s Voters. SHE IS A THREAT TO DEMOCRACY!”

CBS Has Not Released the Transcript

In response, CBS issued a statement denying the claims and yet admitting they edited it for “clarity”. The network explained that the editing was a routine practice used to ensure clarity and brevity. According to CBS, the same question was asked, but a different portion of Harris’ response was aired on Face the Nation versus 60 Minutes. They maintained that the edits were not deceitful, stating, “When we edit any interview, whether a politician, an athlete, or movie star, we strive to be clear, accurate, and on point. The portion of her answer on 60 Minutes was more succinct, which allows time for other subjects in a wide-ranging 21-minute-long segment.”

Trump is insisting that the network replaced a “crazy or dumb” answer with something more coherent. He has also hinted at legal action, raising concerns of media bias and election tampering.

The network emphasized that the decision to use a more concise version was purely for time management, not to manipulate Harris’ image.
