The proposed gift would begin in 2027; distribution details and eligibility requirements remain to be announced.
Elon Musk says he plans to give every child in America one of his SpaceX shares next year, announcing a potentially substantial private contribution to children’s investment accounts.
“Next year, I will give one of my SpaceX shares to every kid in America,” Musk wrote on X on October 19. President Trump subsequently connected the planned gift to the Trump Accounts program.
The announcement is a pledge for 2027, rather than a distribution that has already occurred. Details about qualifying children, enrollment and how the shares would reach individual accounts have not been fully announced.
The value of the gift would depend on the number of recipients and the stock’s value when transferred. Estimates based on current share prices should not be understood as guaranteed future account balances.
Musk’s announcement follows a separate pledge by SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell and her husband to contribute shares for more than 2 million children, according to published reporting.
For families, the next practical step is watching for official instructions explaining how the proposed contribution would work. The announcement alone does not establish that a child has received shares or that parents must take immediate action.
