Lawsuit says Hillsboro School District denied reimbursement for homeschool materials because they incorporated a Christian worldview
A homeschooling mother has filed a federal lawsuit against Oregon’s Hillsboro School District, alleging the district discriminated against her because of her Christian faith.
Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys representing the mother say she participates in a district program that allows families to receive reimbursement for qualifying homeschool educational materials.
According to the lawsuit, the district denied reimbursement for curriculum the mother selected because the materials incorporated religious content. ADF argues that excluding otherwise eligible educational materials solely because they are religious violates constitutional protections.
The case asks the court to prevent the district from excluding religious curriculum from the reimbursement program on that basis.
