Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s comments mocking Tesla’s falling stock spark backlash against the failed VP nominee

Governor Sinks to New Low, Revealing ‘Sick Person’ 76%+ Americans Approve of Work of DOGE Musk Fires Back

Minnesota Governor and failed VP nominee, Tim Walz ignited a firestorm after the struggling politician’s comments celebrating Tesla’s declining stock price, raising questions about the role of political leaders in supporting—or seemingly undermining—American businesses. Speaking at a town hall event in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, hosted by the Democratic Party of Wisconsin on March 18, Walz quipped that he checks Tesla’s stock “to give me a little boost during the day,” noting its value at “$225 and dropping.” The remarks, have since drawn sharp criticism from prominent figures, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

76%+ Americans Approve of Work of DOGE

Tesla’s stock has faced a challenging year, dropping over 40% in 2025 amid concerns over  electric vehicle sales, competition, and Musk’s high-profile role in the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The company, a cornerstone of American innovation in the EV sector, has also seen its dealerships and chargers targeted by domestic terrorists, a backlash to Musk’s uncovering fraud and abuse in government. Though 76%+ of Americans agree with and support the work of DOGE, terrorists  have infiltrated this country, trying to spread fear and change the narrative to keep the fraud and abuse from being uncovered. Against this backdrop and likely supported by the same people funding these terrorists, Walz’s comments crossed the line. Walz not only didn’t condemn the terrorists but actually seemingly joined in, fueling the fire with comments against an American company. Critics argue the comments reveal a sick person who tried to run for VP. Tesla is an American company that employs thousands of Americans and impacts millions of investors.

Social media platforms, particularly X, have buzzed with reactions. Some users pointed out the irony of Walz’s stance given Minnesota’s own investment in Tesla. Posts on X noted that the state holds 1.6 million shares in its retirement fund and 211,000 shares in its non-retirement fund, suggesting that a Tesla downturn could harm Minnesota retirees and workers. “Walz cheers Tesla’s stock lows, ignoring the retirees and workers who’d lose big,” one user wrote, calling him “a disgrace to this country.” Others labeled him a “traitor” for appearing to wish ill on a domestic industry leader.

Musk Fires Back

Elon Musk, fired back with a pointed jab on X: “Sometimes when I need a little boost, I look at the @JDVance portrait in the @WhiteHouse and thank the Lord.” The retort, referencing Vice President JD Vance and Walz’s 2024 election loss as Kamala Harris’s running mate. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also weighed in, slamming Walz for “living a sad existence” by taking pleasure in Tesla’s struggles, a sentiment echoed by Republicans who see his comments as anti-American.

Walz’s remarks come as he embarks on a national tour of town halls in Republican-leaning districts, a move some interpret as positioning for a potential 2028 presidential run. At the Eau Claire event, dubbed “People v Musk,” he doubled down, calling Musk an “un-elected, South African, nepo-baby” and suggesting Tesla owners remove the company logo from their cars with “dental floss.” While his few Democrat supporters cheered for terrorists (a common thread today), common sense Americans argue it undermines the economic interests of his constituents and the nation at large.

Tesla has become the target of terrorists bent on preserving fraud, waste, and abuse in our government, and frankly on America’s demise. With ballooning debt threatening to bankrupt our country and services like Medicare and Social Security hanging in the balance due to an unbalanced budget, supporters see what Musk is doing as saving America. For now the
