President & Cabinet Officials Join Nationwide “America Reads the Bible” Event
Washington, D.C. – President Trump will deliver a special video message from the Oval Office on Monday, April 21, reading Scripture live during the 6 p.m. EST hour as part of the nationwide “America Reads the Bible” initiative. He will be followed in the program by Dr. Ben Carson and Candy Carson.
The President is scheduled to read from 2 Chronicles 7:11–22 in the KJVER translation. The passage includes the well-known promise:
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal our land.”
Bunni Pounds, founder and president of Christians Engaged and the visionary behind America Reads the Bible, praised the President’s decision to participate. The event was intentionally patterned after Ezra’s public reading of Scripture in the Old Testament.
“We are thankful that President Trump has agreed to read one of the most important Scripture passages for the American church, offering God’s promise that if we pray and repent as His people that He will forgive our sins and heal our land,” said Pounds. “What hope this moment gives us for national healing and renewal.”
President Trump will be joined in the Bible reading by numerous members of his administration and Cabinet, including: Marco Rubio, U.S. Secretary of State, Pete Hegseth, U.S. Secretary of War, Scott Turner, U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Brooke Rollins, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Doug Burgum, U.S. Secretary of the Interior, Doug Collins, U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Susie Wiles, White House Chief of Staff, Kevin Hassett, Director of the National Economic Council, Vincent Haley, Director of the White House Domestic Policy Council, Paula White-Cain, Senior Advisor of the White House Faith Office, and Jenny Korn, Deputy Assistant to the President and Faith Director of the White House Faith Office
The “America Reads the Bible” event aims to highlight the Bible’s historic and ongoing role in American life and to call the nation to prayer, humility, and repentance. Organizers say the participation of the President and senior administration officials underscores the significance of the moment for national renewal.
