“First and foremost is our faith, we know God brought us together and we trust his judgment,” said Carrie Underwood in a recent interview on I am Second alongside her husband and former NHL hockey player, Mike Fisher.
The two revealed ways that God has proven Himself faithful in the midst of the changing circumstances, different professions, and seasons of life raising their children. Mike has since retired from the NHL and now runs an outdoors company. Carrie continues to produce music including the release of her latest release of “My Savior” which Debuts #1 Across Billboard’s Country & Christian Charts this past April 2021.
“The bigger reason why I love the outdoors and part of our company’s mission is to point people to the Creator and encourage them in their faith.”
In terms of bringing together two very different people into marriage, Carrie stated, “I feel this is another way that God has intervened, interjected into our lives…If I married myself that would be terrible.”
Fisher and Underwood met backstage after one of Underwood’s concerts in 2008, engaged in 2009, and married in 2010. The couple gave birth to their first child, a son in February 2015. In January 2019, she gave birth to their second son.
“As the world sees it we’ve been blessed with a lot of things and doing what we love to do and money and fame. But there is no true happiness in these things that everyone sees that should be great with us apart from a real relationship with God and Jesus. We’re not perfect, don’t have a perfect marriage, but we have that one thing in our faith and that’s why we’re here, to glorify God with what we are given and hopefully, we point people to the answer and that’s what we want to be.”
