In a Win for Public Safety, ‘Worst of the Worst’ Gang Member Taken Off the Streets & Is In Custody
U.S. Officials announced the arrest of a high-ranking MS-13 gang leader in Virginia early Thursday morning, a significant step in the Trump administration’s mission to combat violent crime and illegal immigration. The arrest occurred in Dale City, Prince William County, approximately 30 minutes from Washington, D.C., following a coordinated operation by federal and state law enforcement agencies.

Worst of the Worst
Speaking at a press conference at the FBI Field Office in Manassas alongside FBI Director Kash Patel and Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi detailed the suspect’s prominence within the notorious gang. “Early this morning, one of the top leaders of MS-13 was apprehended,” she said. “He was the leader for the East Coast, one of the top three in the entire country, right here in Virginia… He is an illegal alien from El Salvador—and he will NOT be living in our country much longer.” Bondi emphasized the broader impact of the arrest, stating, “America is safer today because one of the top domestic terrorists in MS-13, he is off the streets. This has been an ongoing directive of President Trump. His directive to me when I became Attorney General of the United States was very simple: Keep America safe!”
The suspect, a 24-year-old man from El Salvador, was apprehended by the Virginia Homeland Security Task Force. Bondi tied the operation to the administration’s immigration enforcement priorities, declaring, “From the second Donald Trump took office, he said he is going to make America safe. He shut down our borders and now it’s our job to get these people out of our country… We will not have another Laken Riley.” Her reference to Laken Riley, a Georgia nursing student allegedly murdered by an undocumented immigrant in 2024, underscored the administration’s focus on linking public safety to border security.
Commitment to Action Against Violent Crime
FBI Director Kash Patel, also present at the press conference, outlined the agency’s commitment to nationwide action against violent crime. “This task force is going to go everywhere as needed, across the United States to bring the form of justice and measured security and safety that our American citizens deserve,” Patel said. Addressing potential offenders directly, he added, “If you are going to continue to commit acts of violent crime, you will meet the same fate that this individual did this morning.” Patel’s remarks reinforced the administration’s aggressive stance on law enforcement, aligning with his earlier statements about addressing drug overdoses, rapes, and homicides as national security crises.
The operation, which involved collaboration between the FBI, Virginia State Police, and the Department of Homeland Security, reflects the Trump administrations crackdown on crime and focus to immediately dismantle MS-13 leadership in the region. President Donald Trump celebrated the arrest on social media, calling it a “big deal” and commending Bondi and Patel for their leadership. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt echoed this sentiment, describing it as “a good day for our country.”
The Justice Department has indicated that further updates will be provided as the case progresses in federal court in the Eastern District of Virginia. This arrest is the latest in a series of actions targeting MS-13, a gang known for its brutal violence, extortion, and drug trafficking, and underscores the Trump administration’s dual focus on immigration enforcement and public safety.
