“Bullet Pierced My Ear”: Trump Shares Harrowing Details and Condolences Following Butler Rally Tragedy
Former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to provide an update and express his gratitude following the shooting incident at his campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
In his post, Trump thanked the U.S. Secret Service and law enforcement for their swift response to the shooting. He also extended his condolences to the families affected by the tragic event. “Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured,” Trump wrote.
Describing the Moment
Trump described the moment he realized he had been shot. “I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening.”
Shooter is Dead
He also noted that the shooter is deceased and that details about the shooter remain unknown. Trump concluded his post with a patriotic note, saying, “GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
This update comes after the former President was swiftly escorted off the stage by Secret Service agents when gunshots rang out during his presentation at the rally. Trump’s campaign has assured supporters that he is fine and being checked out at a local medical facility.
President Biden released a statement on the tragic events saying:
“I have been briefed on the shooting at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania.
I’m grateful to hear that he’s safe and doing well. I’m praying for him and his family and for all those who were at the rally, as we await further information.
Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety. There’s no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it.”
The Biden campaign also announced it would freeze all outbound communications in light of the attempt assassination attempt of America’s 45th President and likely 47th.
